Alicante

Alicante is a fairly large city with a population of 300,000. It combines classic beauty with modern appeal and has an infrastructure that offers exciting entertainment as well as educational opportunities.

This amazing city manages to pack in mountains, beaches and even an island off the Coast into its city limits. This is the only inhabited island in Costa Blanca.

The most popular promenade in Alicante is 'Explanada de España' which runs along the former port jetty. It has a unique and attractive patchwork design of different colours flanked by rows of palm trees overlooking the Mediterranean sea. This haven of relaxation is perfect to enjoy the sunshine and pleasant weather.

Calpe

The town of Calpe is famous for the Penon de Ifach (Calpe Rock), a huge rock that juts into the sea andis about 300 metres high, for those brave and fit enough, can be ascended by foot. The views from the top are fantastic and worth the effort. Why not visit The Levante Beach which runs to the north of the Penon, this is an exceptional beach of a white fine sand with a shallow incline into the seaor visit The Arenal Beach which runs South from the Penon, is a much longer beach and this runs into the town centre. In summer a craft market is available every evening. Both beaches have a lovely pedestrianised walkway along the full length of the coast.

Denia

The pretty town of Dénia dates back to the 4th Century B.C. and is named after the goddess Diana by the Romans, lying between the mountains and long sandy beaches. High on the hill overlooking the town is a 17th century Moorish castle. Dénia maintains its old traditions with its colourful fish and vegetable market. Walk around the old quarter and discover an authentic Moorish-Spanish atmosphere in its narrow cobbled streets.

The beaches to the North of Dénia are in total contrast to the beaches in the South. "Las Marinas" in the North is a 14.5 km long stretch of fine, sandy beaches offering differing facilities that provide everything needed for a relaxing holiday soaking up the sun. There is a large selection of bars and restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets along the length of this stretch of coast. The South stretch of coast consists mainly of residential areas including some very large villas. This coastline is a paradise for scuba diving. The Montgó Natural Reserve forms a dramatic backdrop to the South coast of Dénia.

Walk through the arched canopy of trees that line the main cosmopolitan avenue of Dénia, Marqués de Campo and relax with the locals in one of the pavement cafés and restaurants or do a bit of shopping in the extensive range of exclusive boutiques.

During the patron saint's days in July - in honour of the Santisima Sangre - the famous Bous a la Mar (Bulls at the sea) are celebrated. A unique show, involving Bulls being set loose along Dénia town's main street, Marqués de Campo and then into the Port area, considered to be a celebration of national touristic interest.

Orihuela

Orihuela is a beautiful place with an attractive sea front featuring a string of secluded inlets, beaches of golden sand, well-cared for residential districts and two quiet marinas. Moving from the North to the South you'll discover a lively inlet and an open beach, both with full facilities and a well-cared for promenade. It also has a series of small inlets with clear waters ideal for diving.

The La Zenia beach is perfect for windsurfing, and between this beach and Roig cape lie more beautiful coves. At the foot of the Roig Cape , you'll find the yacht club which offers adventure sports like dinghy sailing and windsurf classes. This is linked to Campoamor marina by a wide beach always dotted with windsurf sails. Beyond this lies the Southernmost beach, Mil Palmeras which blends into the beach of the neighbouring town.

Orihuela has three excellent golf courses just a few kilometres from the sea - Villamartin, Las Ramblas and Campoamor. It also has a town with ancient Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monuments.  This is a very popular area for the British to buy property and generally has the most holiday rentals available.
